CPR & Baby Class # 4

I am happy to report Jason and I are fully trained and certified to practice CPR on an adult, child, and/or infant. We are also trained on how to use an AED machine and also perform the very useful heimlich maneuver (my old boss would be proud). So, family and friends, this should make you feel that much safer when hanging out with us!!

We had baby class # 4 on Tuesday night. We were not in a good mood upon arriving to class and were really not up for it (we had CPR class for 4 hours Monday and Wednesday night, too). Just before we left for class, I noticed that we were billed 10x more for an ATM charge than we should have been ($220 instead of $22). Right now, we really don't need mistakes like this in our bank account. When we got to the freeway, there must have been an accident, so it took forever to make it to Los Gatos and we arrived to class a little late (which meant, yes, we had to sit in the very front...again). We forgot our pillow and forgot to bring the class packet with us. Jason left his wallet in the car and had to go back out and get it. Oh, and I casually indicated to Jason that his fly was down during class, too. Lovely. But, by the end of class, talking about babies and such, everything was okay again.

Not too much to report back on class this week. A pediatrician joined us to answer questions for 45 min. We learned new pain management techniques while holding a handful of ice for 1-2 min a dozen times. (Which can be very painful, believe it or not!) One of my coping skills I chose was to think of a hot beach and how refreshing the ice was (positive thinking!!)...think this will work for me during labor, too? ; >

I am going to leave you with this disturbingly funny link (thanks, Kerry!): 20 Baby Products Great for Traumatizing Infants

Speaking of "traumatizing infants" -- the talking "Mork and Mindy doll" did that efficiently in our family. Yes, everybody, I gave it to the Goodwill many years ago. Nanu, nanu!
